About Amanda

With over 20 years in interior design, Amanda Reynal is known for her and ability to see projects from conception to completion with no detail left to chance. After moving to Des Moines in 2001 she founded Amanda Reynal Interiors where she quickly became known for her well-traveled aesthetic and astute knowledge of antiques, art and the global design market. Her work is grounded by traditional forms‚ and is unique in its adherence to a historical aesthetic with a young and updated sensibility. Amanda’s success lies in her ability to create original schemes with a current point of view for each project. In 2009, Traditional Home Magazine named Amanda as one of 20 top young traditional designers.

Amanda received a Bachelor of Arts at Trinity College with a major in Art History. She then studied the masters abroad in Florence‚ Italy and then learned her trade at the New York School of Interior Design and Parsons School of Design. More recently‚ she spent three years in London which provided the perfect venue for travel and continuing her education in English and European decorative arts and antiques as well as in contemporary art.

In New York‚ first at an architectural firm and then as a senior design associate at the prestigious Cullman & Kravis, Inc., Amanda defined her signature style as a traditionalist grounded in the classical elements of symmetry and balance that are at the core of her work. Here‚ she collaborated with collectors of fine art and antiques on high-end projects in New York, Connecticut, Nantucket and the Hamptons. Combining the elements of traditional design with contemporary lifestyles has become her credo.

In 2001, Amanda founded Amanda Reynal Interiors in Des Moines while designing the Master Bedroom Suite for the Des Moines Symphony Showhouse and the Meredith Publishing Company.

She provides her clientele with an elegant‚ fresh‚ and balanced approach to home decoration. Her ability to combine a deep understanding of the traditional principles of design with her extensive knowledge of the design market keeps her perspective current and relevant.

Amanda Reynal Interiors' projects employ a layering of pattern‚ scale and texture alongside clean-lined furniture forms and custom upholstery to create original and balanced spaces. Reynal translates her clients’ needs and contemporary lifestyles into original and dynamic spaces that have been frequently published in national magazines such as House Beautiful, Elle Décor, Real Simple, Redbook, HGTV, Lonny, Domino, Trad Home, and Midwest Living.
