Lighting is one of the most important elements in any room. It can influence mood, balance a space, or enhance the color of a wall. Lately we have seen lantern used successfully in many different areas.

Lanterns are a classic front entry fixture that welcomes guests to the experience beyond your front door. Praised for its versatility, hanging lanterns accommodate a variety architectural styles. Lanterns serve as functional pieces over a kitchen table or island, or as statement pieces lined up down a hallway. With so many shapes, sizes, and finishes to choose from, differing lanterns can be used in multiple rooms. Here are a few of my favorite lanterns currently available to the design market today:

The Visual Comfort Darlana lantern I have used a few times. It is my main go to for its timeless style, affordable price, and different sizing options. It is made of gilded iron but gives the illusion of a soft brass finish. This is a very low maintenance lantern, cleaning wise, due to no glass.

Tole lanterns made from painted metal have always been a statement fixture. These few from Coleen and Company and JM Piers are my go to’s.
