One Room Challenge Week 4

I cannot believe its Week 4 already of the Calling it Home One Room Challenge. I am very nervous at this point as not much has happened in Henry’s Room since last week. However, today the ceiling wallpaper went up, and on Friday, the valances and ceiling fan will be installed.

I have spent a lot of time trying to track down the bed from Serena and Lilly which was in stock and I was told should arrive about two weeks after the order date even though they say two to four weeks to receive. Well now it has been four weeks and still no bed. I have been sharing my stress with Henry York at Serena and Lily, and he is really trying to find the bed and get it to me sooner. I am so grateful to him.

I am also afraid the dresser, desk chair and lampshades are still en route to Iowa with no details on a delivery date. Those have been ordered fro nearly a month as well and were in stock in a New Jersey warehouse so I am very hopeful that they will arrive next week.

So, in order to feel as if I am doing something productive for the room, I have been focusing on artwork. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a kid’s room and needs to have an element of fun to it. My inclination would be to use serious artwork on the walls and I have found some that would look amazing. But I want him to love it as well and we have actually had fun together working through it.

As Henry loves to skateboard, I suggested doing a wall of art with a triptych of  skate decks. I always loved the Basquiat and Damien Hurst ones, but alas, we do have a budget so I looked elsewhere than Gagosian Gallery’s online shop. At Henrys suggestion we searched through hundreds online at Skate American and founds some really fun ones. I hope they look good in person when they arrive. I also found some great original art that I plan to mix in as well. I wanted something big and impactful on the large wall to the right of the window.  Here are the boards and some other pieces I found… now I wonder if they are in stock.

Thanks so much for following along as the One Room Challenge continues. Check out all the other guest participants on the Calling it Home blog, and come back next Thursday to see if we have made any progress in Henry’s room.
