One Room Challenge Week 3

Another week has flown by and we are half way done with the One Room Challenge.  I am loving being a guest participant in the Calling it Home blog ORC. Be sure to visit Calling it Home to see everyone else’s progress as well.

Poor Henry has been stripped of his comforts, and his room is empty except for a mattress on the floor. However, being at 14-year-old boy, he doesn’t seem to mind much. The room is painted and the blinds are installed. Now I am waiting for the furniture to all arrive!!! I hope it comes in time.

As I look at the empty green room I realize how vast and white the ceiling looks next to dark walls and mahogany doors and I decide to wallpaper the ceiling. I am looking for something organic yet geometric that can still be gender appropriate for a dude. After sorting through my entire wallpaper library, I narrowed it down to: Schumacher Zebra Palms and Serena and Lilly’s green geometric. The valances will be Les Touches from Brunschwig and Fils in Green so I need a larger scale geometric for the ceiling.

I have been struggling to find teen friendly coordinating bedding with embroidery n just the right shade of green. I felt as though I have exhausted the affordable resources when I started trolling through Etsy. There I found Southern Linens. Emily was very helpful in finding the green thread that matches the paint color. I ordered a duvet covet and shams with a green ribbon trim and monogram.

Most of the scheme is green and white but the carpet is blue. In order to tie in the carpet, I needed just one  fabric with both blue and green. Christopher Farr Cloth Carnival has just the right blues and greens and so I ordered a long 14"x24” lumber pillow for the bed. Can you believe I found a pillow maker on Etsy that carries this fabric?  Its called West End accents and you can even add contrast welt if you wish.

Tune in next week to see more progress. I am looking for art and accessories. This is also a great opportunity to get Henry organized so I am going to look for some pin boards and desk accessories as well.

See you next week!! Also follow my project here and on my Instagram @amandareynal.
